... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon...
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Winter Storm Watch... which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
* Affected area: the west central and southwest valleys... the southern Wasatch front... and the Sevier and Sanpete valleys in central Utah.
* Snow accumulations: storm total accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected... with the heaviest accumulations along the I-15 corridor south of Provo to Cedar City.
* Timing: snow showers and thunderstorms will arrive with a cold front early Saturday afternoon. Snow will turn steady and at times heavy late Saturday into early Sunday. Pockets of heavy snow will linger mainly across central Utah Sunday afternoon.
* Snow levels: most elevations will remain in snow... with brief periods of rain and snow mixed near Provo through Saturday evening.
* Impacts: travel along the major roadways in the advisory area ... especially along I-15 and I-70... will become treacherous by Saturday evening... and remain hazardous through much of Sunday.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for a mixture of significant snow... sleet... freezing rain and or strong winds. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
