regional weather discussion... Rain showers will continue across parts of central and southern Oklahoma... and western North Texas this evening. Through 8 PM... a few areas of moderate to occasionally heavy rain will be possible along an area extending from Crowell to Archer City... and between Okeene and Guthrie. Moderate rains will also occur in the El Reno area. Local rainfall rates of 1/4 to 1/2 inch per hour will be possible with some of the heavier showers. An upper level low pressure system over western North Texas will continue to generate showers and a few thunderstorms overnight. Rainfall in some areas of central and southeast Oklahoma could be heavy. Although rainfall amounts may not be as heavy tonight over southwest Oklahoma and western North Texas... the ground remains saturated in several areas from earlier rains... so that even moderate rains could cause additional flooding.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wichita river at Wichita Falls.
* Until Wednesday evening.
* At 7:45 PM Tuesday the stage was 20.3 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... the Wichita river has crested and will continue to fall.
The Wichita river will fall below flood stage by early Wednesday
afternoon.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Wednesday morning...
The National Weather Service in Norman has expanded the
* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of southwest Oklahoma
and northern Texas... including the following areas... in
southwest Oklahoma... Caddo... Comanche and Cotton. In northern
Texas... Archer... Clay and Wichita.
* Through Wednesday morning
* part of the region was already wet... as 2 to 6 inches of rain
had already fallen by Tuesday afternoon. A storm system will
produce periods of moderate and heavy rain across parts of
southwest Oklahoma and western North Texas tonight. New rainfall
of 1 to 2 inches is likely... and some locations may receive even
more. Flooding and flash flooding is likely to affect some... if
not many... locations within the watch area.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
