Cumberland... eastern Monmouth... Gloucester... Hunterdon... Mercer... Middlesex... Morris... northwestern Burlington... ocean... Salem... Somerset... southeastern Burlington... Sussex... * From Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night
* at 8 PM EDT... Tropical Storm Hanna was located about 100 miles south southeast of Charleston South Carolina. It was moving north at about 20 miles per hour... and this motion should continue tonight. The storm will move along the middle Atlantic coast Saturday and Saturday night. It is expected to bring 3 to 7 inches of rain to the watch area beginning tonight into Saturday night. These rainfall totals have the potential to produce flooding across the area.
* In the Flood Watch area... roads and poor drainage areas may become flooded. Also... small creeks and streams may run high or go out of their banks with this event.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to move to higher ground should flooding develop. Anyone driving who encounters a flooded roadway should not try to drive across it. Find an alternate Route.

At 200 am EDT... the center of Tropical Storm Hanna was about 410 miles south southwest of Fenwick Island... Delaware and 480 miles south southwest of Atlantic City... New Jersey.

This statement recommends actions to be taken by persons in southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of northern and western New Jersey.

In addition to the Tropical Storm Warning... there is also a Flood Watch in effect. Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.Gov on the internet for more information about this additional hazard.
... Precautionary/preparedness actions...
The strong winds may bring down power lines. Have working flashlights or portable lanterns on hand... as well as a battery powered radio. Have a supply of spare batteries. Be sure to use battery powered lights instead of candles to prevent accidentally starting a fire.
Secure loose objects around the house... such as outdoor furniture and garbage cans.
Do not park your vehicle under trees... as tree limbs may come down during the storm.
If you live in a location that is prone to flooding... be prepared to move to higher ground. Make sure that your vehicle has enough fuel in the event that you need to evacuate.
Do not drive through flood waters... the water may be deeper than you think it is.
Be sure to follow the advice of local officials.

Frequent tropical storm force wind gusts of around 45 mph... are possible beginning this morning and lasting into this evening.
... Probability of hurricane/tropical storm conditions...
There is a 30 percent chance of sustained tropical storm force winds of 39 mph or greater today. Wind gusts to tropical storm force are more likely.
... Inland flooding...
Rainfall amounts of 4 to 7 inches are expected across the region. The rain will become heavier this afternoon. Flash flooding of small streams... creeks and urbanized areas can be expected as a result of the heavy rain. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible.
On the main Stem Delaware River... rises of up to 3/4 bankfull are possible. On the lower Schuylkill River near Philadelphia... rises up to near bankfull are possible.
