Flash Flood Watch in effect tonight... widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will continue across north central and northeast Louisiana through 800 PM. Look for the heaviest rainfall to occur mainly along and east of a line from Jena...and Calhoun...onto near Farmerville Louisiana through 1000 PM. Additional rainfall rates near one inch will be through the evening.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... northwestern Caldwell Parish in north central Louisiana... eastern Jackson Parish in north central Louisiana... eastern Lincoln Parish in north central Louisiana... this includes the cities of... Ruston... Grambling... Ouachita Parish in north central Louisiana... this includes the cities of... West Monroe... Swartz... Monroe... Claiborne... Brownsville-Bawcomville... Union Parish in north central Louisiana... eastern Winn Parish in north central Louisiana... eastern Union County in south central Arkansas... this includes the cities of... Norphlet... Huttig... El Dorado...

* at 610 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated flash flooding from showers and thunderstorm continually redeveloping across the same region.
* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to the cities of Monroe... Ruston... and El Dorado.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges... dips... or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream... even a small one... on foot. To escape rising water move up to higher ground.

* Flood Watch for portions of Arkansas... Louisiana... southeast Oklahoma and Texas... including the following areas... in Arkansas... Columbia... Hempstead... Howard... Lafayette... Little River... Miller... Nevada... Sevier and Union AR. In Louisiana... Bienville... Bossier... Caddo... Caldwell... Claiborne... De Soto... Grant... Jackson... La Salle... Lincoln... Natchitoches... Ouachita... Red River... Sabine La... Union la... Webster and Winn. In southeast Oklahoma... McCurtain. In Texas... Angelina... Bowie... Camp... Cass... Cherokee... Franklin... Gregg... Harrison... Marion... Morris... Nacogdoches... Panola... Red River... Rusk... Sabine TX... San Augustine... Shelby... Smith... Titus... Upshur and wood.
* From 7 PM CDT this evening through late Wednesday night
* an upper level low has become nearly stationary today near the Red River of North Texas. Ingredients are coming together for a long duration... heavy rainfall event across the four state region. In addition to the rain which feel last night and today... rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches... with locally higher totals... appear possible through the next 36 hours. Most of the rain is expected to occur tonight through Wednesday... tapering Wednesday night.
* Residents... particularly those in flood prone areas... as well as those living near small streams... creeks... and rivers should be prepared to move to higher ground if flooding is observed.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts during the next 24 to 36 hours.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
