Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:53 am EDT on August 20, 2008 |
... Flood Watch remains in effect through late Friday night...
The Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of southeast Georgia... including the following areas... Appling... Atkinson... Bacon... Brantley... Charlton... Clinch... coastal Camden... coastal Glynn... Coffee... Echols... inland Camden... inland Glynn... Jeff Davis... Pierce... Ware and Wayne.
* Through late Friday night
* Tropical Storm Fay is over east central Florida and is forecast to turn northwest and slow. As Fay moves closer to the area through today and Thursday... rainfall potential will increase as rain bands spread north. As a result... a Flood Watch is in effect for southeast Georgia.
* Highest rainfall amounts... both preceding and directly associated with Fay... will favor eastern sections of the area. Based on the current forecast track... rainfall totals of around 5 to 10 inches are possible and farther inland amounts may vary from 4 to 8 inches. If Fay slows even further... then higher amounts can be expected.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
