... Increased fire danger this afternoon across much of western North Carolina...
A very dry air mass will remain in place today. With temperatures rising a few degrees above average... relative humidity values will fall below 25 percent for most of the afternoon. Gusty winds are expected to develop as well. Even with the recent rain... fuel moisture values have fallen and the combination of all these factors will lead to increased fire danger through the afternoon.
Please refer to your local burn permit authorities. If you do burn... use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

... Increased fire danger Sunday afternoon across much of western North Carolina...
A very dry air mass will move into the area tonight and remain in place on Sunday. With temperatures rising to a few degrees above normal... relative humidity values will fall below 25 percent for most of the afternoon. Gusty winds are expected to develop during the afternoon as well. Gusts could be as high as 40 mph across the higher elevations and 30 mph across the foothills and Piedmont. Even with the recent rain... fuel moisture values have fallen to low levels. The combination of these conditions will lead to increased fire danger Sunday afternoon.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn... use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
